FRIDAY 6 JUNE - THE NIGHT MARCHERS

Time: Friday, 6 Jun 08 - 8:30 pm
Venue: Music Room at the Boston Arms
Bands:
  • Night Marchers | See The Night Marchers on Myspace
Former main man with Rocket From the Crypt and riff architect of the Hot Snakes, Speedo, has a new kick-ass rock'n'roll band. RFTC had a reputation for being just about THE best live act on the planet. Well, move over Rover, cos the Night Marchers are here! "See You In Magic" is their first record. From the Byrds-cum-Wipers barrel of "Jump In The Fire" to the vibrating Bo Diddley meets Dez Cadena of "Closed For Inventory" or The Nervous Eaters meets Backstabbers’ beat sleeper known as "You've Got Nerve", this record is a collage of Speedo’s favorite guitars, guitarists and guitar stories. Youc an get a whiff on the faint aroma of Flamin’ Groovies, The Nerves, Status Quo, Black Merda and similar black acid jams - all filtered through a tight quartet who lacerate with the calculated attack of a small Japanese whaling operation.
  • Drellas | See The Drellas on Mypsace
The Drellas is the new band of Tommy Scott, former frontman of Liverpool indie giants, Space. Tommy wanted an outlet for his darker and heavier side, where he could get rockin' and at the same time be quirky and experimental. They take their name from the nickname given to Andy Warhol by Lou Reed - because he was half Dracula and half Cinderella. "Just like this band!" says Tommy.
  • Fraktures | See The Fraktures on Myspace
This Liverpool group (featuring former members of The Moonies), while obviously disciples of the Buzzcocks, have tunes that have enough charm, personality and catchy hooks to still stand on their own. Drowned in Sound says, "Definitely one of the very best new bands in Liverpool, they're a rock'n'roll powerhouse. There's no choice - you will love them!"

BEYOND THE BEAT GENERATION archives and publishes the entire, long forgotten 'wild' musical gems out of the great years of the sixties (1965-1969) to a bright audience by using today's technology as we call 'Stream Radio'.
