DAVE DAY, R.I.P.

It is with great sadness that we heard today, Thursday 10 January, of the death of Dave Day, the man with the banjo in The Monks.

Dave suffered a heart attack last Monday, resulting in a massive brain injury. He was taken off life support and passed away at 6:30 this morning at the Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington.

Dave was one of the absolutely nicest people that I had the pleasure of meeting. He never lost his passion for rock'n'roll and seeing him at a festival, down in front of the stage enjoying the bands, was a real inspiration. He'll be missed by many, many people.

Thats a real shame...im glad i had the pleasure of talking to him at the monks gig in London,he seemed genuinely touched to see everyone at the gig & to talk w/fans,even if for only a 'hi,how are ya'..& what a showman w/that banjo!-R.I.P brother dave...very sad.

Dave Day's memorial service is today, at noon, at Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Ave., Renton, Washington. A friend says, "He'll be 75 yards east of Jimi Hendrix. That was as close as they could get him. (He's STILL making me laugh.)"
