Introduction

Imagine a social gathering involving nude models, lesbian painters, bearded ladies and semi-corpulent French gigolos and you’ll get a feel for the typical crowd that turns out to see the Gussets in their native Edinburgh. This all-female garage-psych voodoo inferno comprises a fantastic big lunged vocalist, with a keyboard player, two basists, a hurricane-strength drummer who’s half Animal from the Muppets and half Keith Moon, and no guitars at all. And in a world where too many indie bands have forgotten that playing live it’s important to put on a show, these young ladies give you a spectacle; they lobotomise you. The Gussets have got everything beautifully right.
