Toe Hammer | See Toe Hammer on Myspace
This two guitar no bass trio has a railroad blues foundation topped with heavy riffs and the second guitar grinding its way through a bass amp. Toe Hammer have retained that invigorating zeal of the 17-year-old hearing his first Stooges record, with their blasts of rockin’ guitar’n’drums, peppered with unfamiliar noises and familiar emotions, familiar to anyone who’s been wronged by someone they loved, worked in grim jobs, to anyone who has a conscience.

Electric Red Drive | See The Electric Red Drive on Myspace
These guys cite their greatest influences as being an epileptic Chuck Berry and their bad English teacher. It's speedy and energetic garage rock with a definite 1960s vibe, but with quirky, edgy guitar riffs being a speciality. This is real party rock'n'roll with a tinge of post-punk playfulness, and the not so distant smells of Iggy and The Stooges cooking up a naughty blend with The Mooney Suzuki.

King Salami & the Cumberland 3 | See King Salami on Myspace
The King howls like Screaming Jay Hawkins with Bo Diddley chasing his coat-tail and with Andre Williams trying to offer up some of his bacon fat. This man never stops shakin' and twistin' and groovin' while the Cumberland 3 (former members of the Ulcers, Chinese Lungs and Parkinsons) play their own branded mix of vintage rockabilly desperate rock'n'roll and a bit of soul with fire, energy, gusto and fun!
-
Johnny Throttle | See Johnny Throttle on Myspace
Formed just a few short months ago (Febuary 2008) by various lowlife has been and never weres from the Parkinsons, Shakin’ Nasties, Urban Shocks, Jackoffs and Menace, JohnnyThrottle play real rock’n’roll the way it was meant to be – snotty, moronic and straight to the point. They bang out a furious 20-minute (smoking ban-friendly) set of short and catchy Modern Lovers meet Slaughter and the Dogs meet the Electic Eels inspired mini-operas with the kind of incompetent teenage enthusiasm which only the borderline middle-aged can truly muster.
-
Deadbeat Descendant | See Deadbeat Descendant on Myspace
This Brighton band play psyched-out punk’n’roll which is often described as a more danceable Iggy mixed with the Fall. Reviews say stuff like: "high octane, high energy songs underpinned by punchy, staccato rhythms"..."they ooze class". It's the kind of sound that makes the indie girls go crazy, says another reviewer. They are fantastic to see live, if you have never caught them before, make sure you catch them tonight.

Revellions | See The Revellions on Myspace
With influences including the likes of Dick Dale, The Ventures and The Chocolate Watchband, these young Dubliners combine the gut-wrenchingly raw sound of a garage band in heat with a smooth heroin surf atmosphere. Their debut album is out on Dirty Water Records.
-
Vicars | See Thee Vicars on Myspace
Teenage rock'n'roll terrorists from the small town of Bury St Edmunds on a mission to kung-fu kick all the boring bands out of existence! Real raw and vintage sounding garage-rock'n'roll! Their single, Don't Try To Tell Me, came out on Dirty Water Records earlier this year. Their debut album, "Back on the Streets", came out on Dirty Water Records last year. A second single, You Lie, is out now and brand new album "Psychotic Beat!", which heads in a more sixties garage direction away from the Childish-inspired punky debut - released on 15 December - has been getting great reviews.
Venue: The Stag's Head, N1
Brief:
Before the band there is comedy from JIMBO, "the rudest man in Australia", who can "juggle fire, do magic, make balloon animals, balance tables on his chin and sleep in past midday".
Compered by BOB SLAYER, the man who "marches right over over the line that should not be crossed like a drunken Henry Rollins with tourettes”.
There will also be DIRTY WATER DJs spinning classic garage-rock, soul, rhythm'n'blues, rockabilly and more.
Entry is absolutely FREE!
The fun kicks off at 7.30pm, but if you're there earlier in the afternoon, from 4pm onwards, there's free BBQ food, no matter what the weather.

Fronted by Billy Childish - he of well known rock'n'roll bands such as The Milkshakes, Thee Mighty Caesars, The Pop Rivets and Thee Headcoats, plus, more recently, the Musicians of the British Empire - the Buff Medways have reformed for a short period of time whilst Nurse Julie of the MBEs becomes a mother. Original bassist Johnny Barker returns, as heard on their version of Hendrix's "Fire" as well as Billy's own "Troubled Mind", amongst other great tunes. This is the last of the Buff Medways reformation gigs. The MBEs will be back next time.

Bishops | See The Bishops on Myspace
Armed with addictive melodies, compulsive rhythms and striking suits, The Bishops are rightfully carving their ascension towards the heights of rock’n’roll prominence. Their self-titled debut album was produced by the creative genius of Liam Watson at the infamous Toe Rag Studios, whose lean, fat-free, no-nonsense production packs a meaty punch when required but is sparing when necessary. It captures the band’s raw sixties influenced beat sound perfectly, with them coming across as a more punky version of Hamburg era Beatles. -
Fabulous Penetrators | See The Fabulous Penetrators on Myspace
The Penetrators sound like Hound Dog Taylor and Bo Diddley having a good old medieval jousting session with their gee-tars to the voice of the rotting corpse of John Lennon, a melodic French dwarf and an over-sexed bear, with the drummer from Slayer just having heard Little Richard for the first time. -
Lidl Richard | See Lidl Richard on Youtube
A feared adversary of the rock’n’roll purists, Lidl Richard trashes his way through everything once held sacred, God help us. Words alone cannot express the craziness of this man's stage show. Just come and see him.

Kits | See The Kits on Myspace
These Melbourne natives have a sound that’s a blend of garage rock’n’roll from various parts of the globe. Their debut (Australian) release, "This Is Your Lung", showers you with a wall of howling vocals, thick, mud-drenched guitars and pounding rhythms. They teeter on the brink, like the sensation you get when you almost lose control of your car, just to recover in the nick of time. Their debut album, "Primitive Tales", is out now on Dirty Water Records -
